There is a new attraction on the Gold Coast that in a few short weeks is already making quite a name for itself among Queenslanders. The supremo of the appliance business, Miele has opened in Southport and this showroom is the latest addition to the other Miele centres located in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.

Retailers and consumers were in attendance at the opening event and enjoyed the impressive food from brand ambassador Shannon Bennett. The event was even more noteworthy because of some very special guests – the current co-proprietors and joint executive directors of Miele and Cie, Dr Markus Miele and Dr Reinhard Zinkann. Miele and Zinkann are the fourth generation at the company; their great-grandfathers together established the company 116 years ago, and Miele is still today a privately owned and run business. It was also announced that Michael Jeanes, managing director of Miele Australia and New Zealand, will be relinquishing his role at the end of September this year and handing over the reins of the Australian and New Zealand business to Sjaak Brouwer, who is currently the managing director of Miele Holland.

The Southport Miele Experience Centre is not just a showroom environment, but a place to interact with and experience Miele appliances. The centre is spread over two floors and displays all products and the multitude of finishes. This is the place to come to learn about the products and understand the processes that differentiate Miele in the marketplace.

Incorporating another dimension to the Miele ‘experience’ is the live kitchen, where cooking demonstrations and classes are held, allowing clients and prospective buyers to understand the range of cook tops and ovens in a hands-on setting. To make the most of the cooking and eating experience, there is a large dining table that adjoins the demonstration area where guests can enjoy the food after the lessons.

Australia is second to Germany in the market for Miele products and the company has invested much time and effort into its brand in this country. With the opening of the Miele Experience Centre in Southport, and the other showrooms around Australia, the company is making its mark, offering an extensive across-the-board range of appliances and products and providing excellent customer service. Miele is here for the long haul and it shows through its growing ranges, research and development, advanced technology and excellent customer service. Just as its catch cry says, Miele is ‘Immer Besser’, or forever better and the future is bright.
