The Robin Boyd Foundation and acclaimed Melbourne restaurant Cutler & Co have joined forces in an exciting venture at Walsh Street House, combining a shared passion for architecture and fine dining.

Walsh Street House, purchased by the Foundation in an early initiative, has become an Australian icon of Twentieth century architecture. Designed by Victorian architect Boyd in 1958, it remains largely unchanged. The house, located in South Yarra, sits on a sloped-allotment demonstrating Boyd’s commitment to strong structural-functional design.

The Foundation works to preserve Boyd’s international legacy through ongoing public learning programs that aim to increase community awareness and understanding of the benefits of good design.

Cutler & Co, under acclaimed chef Andrew McConnell, will offer its complete dining experience at Walsh House for the Foundation’s seminars and public events, with chefs and wait staff from the Fitzroy restaurant at hand.

The collaboration extends from McConnell’s interest in architecture and the arts. “I’ve long appreciated Boyd’s Walsh Street; I first visited many years ago. It is an honour to have the opportunity to work in this house,” he says.

The collaboration will provide a unique experience – a combination of modest style and distinguished design along with food and beverage of the highest quality, rarely offered outside of Melbourne’s top restaurants.

Upcoming events to be held at Walsh Street House and hosted by Cutler & Co include afternoon tea served on the second Saturday of each month, and twilight drinks served on the third Tuesday of each month. The events will begin with an introductory talk about the house and Boyd, followed by a tour of the building. Tickets can be purchased through the Foundation’s website.
