Plus Architecture is opening three new studios in Geelong, Hobart and Adelaide, recognised as rapidly evolving regional areas.

Plus Architecture is hoping the establishment of these studios will galvanise into action the post-pandemic sustainable expansion of regional Australia.

The practice is experiencing an era of substantial development, now leading 10 studios across Australia and New Zealand. 

An experienced member of Plus Architecture’s existing team will head each new regional studio, in the pursuit of bolstering the practice’s global network and over 25 years of achieving premier design and architecture solutions. 

Plus Architecture director Patric Przeradzki attests that establishing an on-the-ground presence in regional areas is the key to achieving sustainable development. More and more people are opting to move away from larger cities and settle in locations such as Geelong, Hobart and Adelaide due to area affordability, balanced lifestyles and cultural appeal. 

“With this exciting period of growth comes increased demand for well-designed new developments and improved infrastructure that provide long-term strategic solutions for communities,” says Przeradzki. 

The practice’s director Ian Briggs corroborates the notion of the untapped potential of regional areas.

“We see the development of these dynamic regional cities as important priorities in Australia’s future, and by working hand-in-hand with local industry and government we can improve the day-to-day lives of these local communities,” says Briggs. 

Project architect Dominic Versace will lead the Geelong studio, and is excited  to develop a bustling hub for future generations and support up-and-coming architects through mentorship programs.

Versace joined Plus Architecture’s Melbourne studio in 2017 after completing architectural studies at Deakin University’s Geelong Waterfront campus. 

His extensive leadership experiences across all project stages, coupled with a reputation to produce high-quality solutions, will serve him well as he leads the studio of Australia’s second-fastest growing city.

Proud Tasmanian and project architect Georgina Hall is leading the Hobart studio. Hall has worked in Plus Architecture’s Perth studio since 2017, yet returned to the Tasmanian capital this year. Hall will work alongside fellow Tasmanian – practice director Ian Briggs. 

Hall is keen to respond to the state’s surging population and influx of tourists through working with local stakeholders to increase the availability of affordable and environmentally-conscious housing, and healthcare and education.

Adelaide will see senior associates Areej Hashmi-Weyman and Wayne Schiller leading the studio towards designing for a population boom – the city is expected to expand by 20,000 people in the next 20 years.

Hashmi-Weyman previously worked with Plus Architecture in Melbourne, and South Australian born Schiller joined the practice in 2022. 

The pair have worked in urban design and architecture for more than 20 years, and their co-leadership of the Adelaide studio is set to expand Plus Architecture’s South Australia portfolio under the healthcare, aged-care, hospitality and education sectors.

All three new regional studios are committed to forging connections with local government and industry to enrich their understanding of the area, and bolster the worth of existing project portfolios.
