The global fibre cement manufacturing company’s latest innovation is reminiscent of softly brushed concrete and is dynamic to touch.
Hardie™ Brushed Concrete Cladding is part of the Hardie™️ Architectural Collection, a range created in collaboration with design community, taking design versatility to a new level. The curated collection of profiles and textures delivers modern exteriors from the ground up.
The latest innovation from James Hardie is Hardie™ Brushed Concrete Cladding – a fibre cement product with flowing lines that give exteriors a crisp and organised warmth or a modern minimalist finish.
The panels showcase bold designs across a variety of settings, such as grand openings and gravity-defying elements, and ground floor and mixed-storey applications.
The brush stroke texture, embedded in the fibre cement, produces a quality finish. Coupled with designer Hardie™ accessories, the texture reduces disruption to the texture.
Evocative of softly brushed concrete, the integrated textured panels are offered as pre-sealed and ready to paint. You can select colours that correspond with a pre-existing home design, or alternatively ignite different versions of material finishes.
Additionally, only the services of carpentry trades people are required for installation. The panels are connected together via shiplap joints and are cut to size and gun nailed.
The 8.5-millimetre-thick panels fit with a wide range of Hardie™ accessories to guarantee that multiple Hardie™ claddings are capable of being mixed and matched to suit a variety of designs.
The 1200-millimetre-wide panels are offered in four lengths to ensure that carpenters can choose the most appropriate size to help reduce waste and maximise installation efficiency.
If installed as per the installation guide, Hardie™ Brushed Concrete Cladding is resistant to damage from warping, swelling or shrinking. The product’s 30 Year Warranty also ensures durability and longevity.
Hardie™ Brushed Concrete Cladding is non-combustible and complies with the Bushfire Attack Level requirements up to BAL40. The cladding also functions as part of a Hardie™ Fire and Acoustic Wall System, which boasts a fire resistance level of 60 minutes.
Bennett House by Caringbah-based design and construction firm Futureflip is one of the first houses in Australia to incorporate the new Hardie™ Brushed Concrete Cladding into construction.
Futureflip’s residential builder Neil Hipwell was eager to feature the cladding across the majority of Bennett House’s exterior.
“We wanted to create a minimalist, box-modern façade, so Hardie™ Cladding was perfect for our clients’ low-fuss, low-key lifestyle,” says Hipwell.
Hipwell says the concrete cladding’s vertical groove texture, easy-to-clean surface, and the product’s ability to avoid design challenges such as façade beams, renders the product a standout in the field.
“Typically, façade beams on a box modern architectural home are done in render. However, this comes with a risk of imperfections as you’re relying on the skills and craftsmanship of your trades, and the weather. There are a lot more variables with Render,” says Hipwell.
