The colour of the year carnival from paint brands across the globe is part and parcel of the end of any year – even one as dreadful as 2021.

With that in mind, ADR has collated the top colour predictions for 2022 from our favourite paint brands from Dulux to Pantone and everyone in between.

Dulux – Celery Green

If the IDEA 2021 shortlist is anything to go by, Australian designers and architects have been feeling green for a while, so it’s no surprise that Dulux is too.

Celery Green is a mid-tone yellow-green that is ideal for use as an accent inside or as a feature outside.

Dulux recommends pairing it with a crisp white, a light pink-apricot shade it calls Pinkham, pictured above, or a Russet Tan.

Pantone – Very Peri

A shade of periwinkle blue called Very Peri has officially been named Pantone Colour of the Year 2022.

The paint brand says its choice responds to the rise of the metaverse and the arts in digital spaces, as well as the impact of COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns into 2021.

Benjamin Moore’s pick for next year is designed to enhance the elegant tranquillity of a space but without feeling overly sterile or clinical.

Benjamin Moore director of colour marketing Andrew Magno says, “October Mist 1495 and the corresponding color trends 2022 palette reflects an effortless harmony of colors while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project.”
