For the second year in a row, Miele – a trusted brand synonymous with luxury and reliability – showcases its commitment to supporting the next generation of architects and innovators through its sponsorship of Australian Design Review’s 30UNDER30.

As an independent family-owned company since 1899, Miele offers superior craftsmanship and is world renowned for manufacturing premium domestic and professional appliances. The company prides itself on innovation and forward thinking, including its continuous efforts towards sustainable practices.

Australian Design Review: What motivated Miele to sponsor the ADR 30UNDER30 Architects and Innovators program, and how does it align with the company’s commitment to the industry?

Ben Curmi: Miele has always had a close alignment with the design industry and one we call on for inspiration and motivation but ensuring we are able to support the newest and brightest into the industry is also important so together we can make each other better.

ADR: This is the second time Miele has sponsored the program – what benefits did you see from your sponsorship of the interior and product design stream?

Ben Curmi: It is and was really about an opportunity to support the upcoming stars of the industry, by being part of this wonderful program we were able to connect with them on a far more personal level.

ADR: Do you anticipate a different application of your product within the architect’s stream to the interior design stream?

Ben Curmi: This is an interesting question, of course our architectural clients may look at appliances in a different manner. Whether it’s an architect or an interior designer they are looking at appliances to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing so I hope in the end we meet both of their requirements.

ADR: In what ways do you think the program supports young architects and innovators in their professional development and advancement within the industry?

Ben Curmi: I hope it gives them the exposure they need to create personal connections with key stakeholders within the industry that will help guide them into long and successful careers.

ADR: What unique opportunities and experiences does Miele offer to the selected individuals as part of this program, and how do these contribute to their growth and recognition?

Ben Curmi: The opportunity for these participants with Miele is once they have formed relationships with our sales teams, not only can we provide all of the information they require on products, we have dedicated Miele only showrooms in Qld, NSW, VIC, SA & WA. They can not only see and touch our appliances but also participate in demonstrations so they understand what they may be specifying.

ADR: How does Miele envision the long-term impact of the ‘30UNDER30 Architects and Innovators’ program on the architecture and design industry, as well as on the broader community?

Ben Curmi: A stronger industry that is supported not only from a  design perspective but also in all elements of business.

ADR: What would you say to those architects who are a little dubious about entering the program? Why should they enter 30UNDER30 architects and innovators stream?

Ben Curmi: Do it, the program is here to support those that want it and hopefully allow you to become the best version of yourself and lead to an amazing career.
