Reece has recently announced the return of the Reece Bathroom Innovation Award (BIA) in 2014 with an aim to turn the spotlight on Australian bathroom furniture.
BIA is one of the leading bathroom product design awards in Australia. It rewards emerging bathroom designers and offers them a platform to showcase their works within the international design industry.
“Bathroom furniture is one of the essential elements of the bathroom space and, from a design perspective, we’ve seen renewed focus in this area internationally in recent years,” says Reece Bathroom Marketing Manager Belinda Geels. “Recent research shows that Australians now consider the vanity unit the preferred feature of their bathroom space, making its place as the cornerstone of today’s bathroom experience clear.”
The competition is open to both professional and student designers. Speaking about this year’s event Geels said, “We’re looking to student and professional designers to really explore the possibilities of bathroom furniture. We want to see how Australia’s emerging design talent can reinvent and truly redefine the vanity unit in a way that uniquely enhances the bathroom space.”
The winner of the 2014 BIA professional category will receive a $10,000 cash prize in addition to a contract with vanity unit manufacturer Omvivo to have the winning project prototyped for sale throughout Australia. On the other hand, the student winner will receive a $5000 cash prize and a two-week internship in Barcelona with leading bathroom manufacturer, Roca.
