The designEX program for 2015 launched last week, revealing a range of standout events heading to Melbourne in May. Among the big announcements of the evening were designEX’s new links with Melbourne International Design Week, and the keynote speaker for 2015.

designEX has become one of the most attended events on the Australian interior design calendar, with over 10,000 industry professionals participating every year. As part of a new direction, the exhibition is set to become a key element of the upcoming Design Matters: Melbourne International Design Week, cementing its significance to the wider design community.

The keynote speaker at designEX 2015 will be London-based interior designer Russell Sage, renowned for his hospitality design work at 5 star hotels, exclusive members clubs and restaurants throughout the UK, France, Russia and Germany. Following Sage’s address will be an interview and audience question session.

Highlights of designEX 2015 include:

Nest 15 –  Curated by Anne-Maree Sargeant, Nest invites 20 designer-makers/self-producers to exhibit their original works. Nest 15 will focus on themes of materiality and innovation.

Moleskine competition – following the success of last year’s competition, this year’s offers the chance for three creatives to have their sketches printed on the cover of a Moleskine. To win, sketch and Instagram your creations using #DEXMOLESKINE.

Collaborations – Keynote speaker Russell Sage and furniture house Great Dane will design a plush café for the event, while Melbourne coffee virtuosos St Ali Sensory Lab will provide the crucial caffeinated fuel for creative conversation.

Next year, designEX will also collaborate on a new project with the team from Niche Media, publishers of (inside) Interior Design Review magazine. The project will bring to life the inspiration, artisanal craft and stories behind objects that are an integral part of the design industry, culminating in a unique curated experience at designEX 2015.

designEX returns to Melbourne 13 to 15 May 2015 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. For more information visit www.designex.info
