The team behind The Milton in the Melbourne suburb of Elwood, Biasol Design Studio, has just been shortlisted for this year’s Restaurant and Bar Design awards. Their Holborn Grind project brings a relaxed street sensibility with a dash of glamour to London.

Industrial elements including exposed brick, textured concrete render and distressed timber flooring provide a raw backdrop for finer details.

The bar is awash with natural light during the day, while featured pendant lighting punctuates the expansive ceiling height.

A poetic ‘love is the drug’ scrawled in cursive neon signage on one wall, carries the brand aesthetic from Biasol Studio’s fit out for sister venue, London Grind.

The overall effect at Holborn Grind is convivial and fresh, demonstrating Australian hospitality design on an international stage. With entrants from over 70 countries, the awards are a platform for international exposure for the emerging local practice.
