The Australian architecture and interior design studio Carr appoints Catherine Keys as an associate within the commercial interiors team.

This appointment coincides with Carr moving into its sixth decade as a practice, and heralding in a wide range of new leadership roles over the past 12 months.

Carr managing director Chris McCue says Keys’ diligent commitment to transforming client visions into results neatly aligns with the Carr way.

“Keys joins our team at a pivotal time for Carr, as we further enrich our expertise and capability in commercial interiors and the leadership team,” says McCue.

Her design journey commenced in 2010 while studying spatial design in Wellington and working in commercial interiors. She then pivoted to event and interior design for four years in London.

Keys is known for testing design boundaries and prioritising the development of strong and nurturing relationships with clients and related parties. The acquisition of these communication and innovation skills has assisted in Keys approaching a project with gusto from start to finish.

When reflecting on her role at Carr, she expresses appreciation for the studio’s considered design ethos, which enables her to implement her creativity to develop a story throughout a space.

Keys’ invaluable skills such as meticulous attention to detail and allowing empathy and care to guide client relationships allows her to imbue ordinary spaces with an element of the extraordinary.

Overall, she credits the act of building upon relationships in order to arrive at the best outcome as the main motivation behind her work.

“Effective communication guarantees that all aspects of the project are well-considered – this process helps promote a project’s lasting and powerful contribution to its occupants,” says Keys.
