10 Wylde Street is a gem of an apartment block located in Sydney’s Potts Point. The challenge for architecture and design practice SJB was to replace an existing building with a new incarnation while maintaining the form and scale of the streetscape.

As such, the architecture follows the proportions of the surrounding 19^th and 20^th-century apartment buildings. Moreover, it provides a landscape buffer by aligning the ground floor with the street edge and improving pedestrian access through a wider footpath.

The apartments all have large private open spaces, some with landscaped courtyards others with large balconies. Natural ventilation has been achieved in the majority of apartments and most receive direct sunlight to living areas throughout the year.

Materials such as bricks and copper have been used to allow a natural gentle patina to develop over the coming years and add character to the building as a whole.

The sympathetic development sits well within the architectural heritage of the vicinity and the state-of-the-art modern interiors are a perfect blend of design and place.
