With its considered design of Kookai’s flagship store on Melbourne’s Chapel Street, acclaimed practice Hecker Guthrie has earned itself a shortlisting for Designer of the Year in the 2015 Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).

New among the ever-expanding range of outdoor furniture to grace the Obodo showroom is the Maiori suite of offerings. Boasting café style collections such as Mica and Stipa (robust takes on Mediterranean rattan), it is, however, the two designer ranges by Christophe Pillet and Normal Studio that set this offering apart.
Plans for the complex were approved unanimously by the Moreland City Council, but recently overturned by VCAT. The body’s senior member Russell Byard defended the rejection, saying that “no such arrangements … are as convenient as private car ownership".
