Ken McBryde has joined the global architecture and design firm as Design Director of Architecture, bolstering Gensler’s architecture design practice and operations.

The appointment augments existing urban design, architecture, master planning and consulting capabilities.

McBryde’s wide experience includes designing and managing global projects.

The announcement reflects the firm’s commitment to strategically investing in design talent to lead on bold and inspiring projects around the world, says Gensler Sydney‘s managing director and principal , Tom Owens. “We believe in taking an integrated approach to create a better world through the power of design,” says Owens.

McBryde is a multi award-winning architect with a reputation as a thought leader. With over 30 years of solid architectural background with a notable design portfolio for mixed use and commercial office developments, multi-residential, education and cultural projects, he has worked extensively throughout Asia Pacific.

Globally, his expertise resides in a combination of international architectural design pedigree with understanding around modern methods of construction (MMC) and Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Disassembly (DfMA). This design approach and skill set is founded on more than 10 years of collaboration with Renzo Piano in Paris, Genoa, Osaka and Sydney.

McBryde’s leadership further extends to his role as practice area leader for Design Purpose in the Design Synergy Community in the Asia Pacific and Middle East region. In this role, he co-leads the region’s thought leadership and market strategy around design purpose and creating efficient design delivery processes. 

He is acknowledged as an expert in his field and regarded as an invaluable strategic partner to clients with a demonstrated track record of delivering a variety of smart buildings, mixed use and commercial office projects that include an array of award-winning workplace and commercial spaces.
