As the lines between private and public domains increasingly blur, architecture is expanding notions of community with houses designed to be multifunctional and/or multigenerational, or play a wider role. Peter Salhani explores this blurring for MEZZANINE.
The winners of the Victorian Chapter of the AIA Awards have been announced, with ARM Architecture taking out four awards - including a sixth Victorian Medal - for the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre. "It has elevated the role of public architecture for both Geelong and the wider regional community," Hamish Lyon, Chair of Juries said.
Sydney-based architecture and design practice Bijl Architecture has recently taken part in improving a community outreach initiative based in Redfern, Sydney.
The design of the 359-bed hospital, by Conrad Gargett Lyons, won the prestigious Future Health Project Award at the 2014 Design and Health International Academy Awards.
