Australian tapware manufacturer Phoenix has reimagined the traditional shower head with the introduction of two new collections that incorporate a unique shower spray technology.

Named HydroSense, the patent-pending technology delivers a more relaxing and immersive experience. The new design dispenses water in curved sheets that disperse mid-fall into dense, cascading droplets.

Phoenix head of research and development Dr Patrick Yao says this unique approach to water distribution increases water flow tenfold and offers more even coverage and improved performance in low-pressure environments.

“Inspired by nature, the water spray pattern shape has a similar shape to an insect wing. It’s the precise calculation of internal curvature and water flow that creates an ideal shower pattern,” says Yao.

To ensure the HydroSense shower experience looks as good as it feels, the technology has been incorporated into two new collections, NX Iko and NX Orli.

Slender and elegant, Iko is stripped back with a clean, light and rounded profile shower design. The design process involved the removal of any extraneous details.

Iko has been paired back with concealed hose connectors and wall fixings for a beautifully harmonious presence in any bathroom interior. Another feature includes the ribbing detailing on the face of the overhead shower rose, which is inspired by water ripples and vinyl records.

“Iko’s mantra is all about being as minimal as possible. The shower design has been paired back to its simplest, most refined form,” says Phoenix design lead Ban Liu.

The Orli differs in that it takes on a contemporary soft square design set on a unique 50mm rail that looks akin to a floating ribbon. The hand piece is designed in two separate pieces to give a streamlined appearance and an air of refinement. Together, the effect is a slim, low-profile look with a rectangular shape that provides a sense of luxury.

The HydroSense technology delivers an experience like no other. The family resemblance to Iko continues in the Orli collection with its distinctive ribbing detailing atop the shower rose. It can be mixed and matched with the range of tapware and accessories that feature the same soft square design elements including the Teel, Alia or Gloss collections.
