Landini Associates’ well-resolved design of a T2 store in the UK has won global accolades for the local practice, beating entrants worldwide to the title of International Store of the Year by the Retail Design Institute of America.

Following their acclaimed work at T2’s slick Melbourne headquarters, Landini Associates continue their relationship with the iconic Australian brand, creating a vibrant retail space for the brand’s first international store in London.

The space presents an edgy, industrial frontage, with a largely black interior allowing the colourful T2 products to take centre stage. The store is designed to showcase and celebrate the tradition of tea, creating a 30-metre library cataloguing the brand’s extensive range of teas according to type.

Floor to ceiling shelving in oxidised steel maximises both storage and display capacity, while imparting the sense that the store’s structural components are built from the products themselves. Mirrored ceilings provide a dynamic component overhead, breaking from the physical structure and reflecting the activity within the store.

Adhering to T2’s established retail format, the UK iteration also offers an immersive sensory experience, with tea-tasting stations and ‘aroma tables’ available to give customers a hands-on interaction with products.

The moody interior brings a Melburnian personality to the London flagship store, retaining elements of T2’s Australian identity while demonstrating a new direction for the evolving brand. With yet another Landini design planned for a T2 store in New York, the brand looks set for world domination.
