The imm Cologne (internationale möbelmesse) furnishings fair returns this year from 19 to 25 January as a source of inspiration for the year ahead as furniture businesses and designers fly in to see what international furnishing companies have to offer.
This year the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), with support from the DesignSingapore Council and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, will have a strong presence as six Singapore-based companies will be exhibiting and participating in the furniture fair.
Amongst these, Univonna Pte Ltd, a specialist in upholstered leather and recliner sofas, will be exhibiting its latest design, Jolie. With storage solutions built into its design as well as bringing back the idea of cup holders, the main drawcard for Jolie is its customisable seating combinations and neutral colour palette.
Furnishing veteran Star Furniture Group will be exhibiting its latest design under its signature JotterGoods series: Letter Desk. Drawing strong inspiration from mid-century classic furniture to conform to the JotterGoods design prerequisites, the apartment desk uses traditional joinery and solid wood in its construction to ensure the product’s simplistic design is not marred by the use of cheap materials.
HTL Manufacturing Pte Ltd brings its Muse sofa to imm Cologne as a representation of luxurious European contemporary design at an affordable price point. Similar to Univonna’s Jolie, HTL’s sofa invites a comparison between dated styles of reclining furniture and suggests that these principles of comfort and customisation can be brought into a modern setting.
