The Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) winners will be announced at the IDEA 2024 Gala on Friday 29 November. Here is what to expect if you are attending. 

Every year for the past 23 years, the IDEA Gala has played host to a hearty celebration of  excellence in Australia’s architecture and design industry. 

While every gala promises a night filled with food, drinks, dancing and community spirit, this year patrons will celebrate at a new venue – the IDEA 2024 Gala will be held at one of Melbourne’s most iconic live music venues, Forum Melbourne. Located opposite Federation Square and a mere stone’s throw away from Flinders Street Station, the Forum is heritage-listed city marvel, ideal for honouring success, glory and innovation in Australian design. 

Where and when

Doors will open at 5.30pm and patrons will lap up roaming canapés and a delicious selection of thirst-quenching cocktails by Four Pillars, including an olive martini and gin and tonic, while Moo Brew is supplying the beers. 

The dress code is cocktail, with a strict no-black-tie policy. 

The IDEA 2024 Gala awards ceremony 

The ceremony will begin at 6:45pm sharp. Eva Sue from Woods Bagot is returning as emcee for the second year in a row. She will be joined by Jefa Greenaway from Greenaway Architects to present awards across 14 categories, in addition to six special awards.

Entertainment 

A DJ will provide an ongoing soundscape for those wanting a boogie, while a surprise musical guest will perform later in the night.

A night of mirth and merriment 

As always, the IDEA Gala presents an opportunity for the architecture and design community to relax into a night of socialising, celebrating and dancing after another year of hard work.
