Celebrate industry talent at the IDEA 2023 gala

You are invited to join us for an evening of celebration as we recognise the best in Australian design at the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2023.

Launched by inside magazine in 2003, the IDEA program celebrates the best of Australian interior and product design across a range of different categories and special awards.

The program has been growing each year, and now attracts hundreds of entries from practices and designers from across Australia. These entries are judged by a panel of design industry professionals, each of whom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the judging process.

As well as attracting submissions from some of the country’s leading architecture and design firms, the program also helps to support emerging local designers.

The night promises to be one of the season’s biggest events with great food, drinks and sensational live music.

The IDEA 2023 gala will take place on Thursday 23 November at Centennial Homestead, Sydney.

IDEA 2023 shortlist

We’re particularly excited to see who takes home the 2023 Designer of the Year award. Smart Design Studio, Tom Mark Henry, YSG Studio, GOLDEN, COX Architecture, Fiona Lynch Interior Design and Arent&Pyke are all vying for the night’s top prize.

This year’s Emerging Designer announcement promises to be a nail-biter too. The shortlisters, including Studio BARBARA, Smac Studio, LINTEL Studio for Architecture, Kate Nixon, Amelda Wilde Interior Design, Alter Space Interiors and Alte. Studio all represent the very best up-and-comers in the industry.

We’ll also be revealing this year’s Gold Medal recipient – an accolade given in recognition of those practitioners who have made an influential and enduring contribution to Australian design culture over the course of a career.

This year’s amazing jury panel includes Elvin Tan, Jade Nottage, Megan Norgate, Danielle Brustman, Byron George, Sue Fenton and Rachel Nolan. They got together in August to pick the winners, but the rest of us will have to wait until the gala!
