How does an emerging design studio create a beautiful retail fit out that doesn’t steal the limelight from its products on sale? Emily Taliangis looks at how Flack Studio have managed to do so with CRITERIA, shortlisted in this year's Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
The central concept behind the design of Southern Highlands House was to create a transparent pavilion that hovered above the landscape. Designed to blend seamlessly, the internal and external spaces are conceived as one. This frames and maximises views of the surrounding landscape while creating a sense of retreat and calmness within the interior.
The Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) has now unveiled its shortlist online. The shortlist issue of (inside) magazine is on sale in newsagents and through Google Play and Zinio. Congratulations to all the shortlisted practices and designers.
The shortlist has been announced for the New Zealand Architecture Awards 2015, representing the best architectural projects in New Zealand this year, located across the Bay of Islands to Central Otago.
