Earlier in the year at Denfair, the American Hardwood Export Council invited six designers across Australia and New Zealand to use US hardwoods to create a bespoke piece of furniture. Each design was mapped from when the trees were felled in the hardwood forests of the US, tracking their environmental profile all the way to Australia, including the final design outcome.
‘Stripped’ by Greg Natale produces the same carbon footprint in its entire lifetime that you create in just 40 hours. ‘Stripped’ pays tribute to the work of minimalist architects Claudio Silvestrin and John Pawson.
"I wanted to create something that uses tulipwood CLT in its largest format possible." The AHEC has collaborated with Alison Brooks Architects, Arup and the London Design Festival to present a giant, cross-laminated tulipwood structure that showcases the true strengths of timber.
