Inspired by the popular Place range, the new Hearth collection from Ross Gardam features generous proportions perfect for lounging, while its modular nature ensures it fits any space.
The new collection is all about its proportions – oversized French seams, soft arms and spacious surfaces.
Gardam set out to create pieces that were distinctive, instantly recognisable, but also customisable.
“Designing for individuals not just people is a strength of my studio and Hearth is a good representation of this,” he explains recently.
“The collection is so flexible and customisable as well as being easy to use, it really can reflect the individual’s needs as well as the needs of their space.”
The lounge pieces, which include both a curved and L-shaped configuration, are available in a plethora of modules of various lengths and shapes.
Each module connects seamlessly via an ingenious locking bracket located under the lounge, with the arms and backs zipping together in the hidden French seam.
Scatter cushions, available in two sizes, add an extra layer of comfort with their feather and down filling.
The collection is completed by a single soft and stylish armchair, which can be upholstered – like all the Hearth pieces – in either fabric or leather.
This most recent collection from Gardam is part of a multi-year collaboration between the Melbourne-based designer and Stylecraft.
In 2019, he designed and manufactured the elegant Nebulae range for the Australian furniture company. The unique collection featured a geometric form coupled with glass discs to create a balance between the elements and is still available at Stylecraft.
At the helm of a team of designers, engineers and makers, Gardam is also know more widely for his contemporary lighting, furniture and objects, with many of his pieces handcrafted in Melbourne by local artisans and manufacturers.
The studio’s methodology combines innovative technology with traditional craft, resulting in products imbued with subtle historical and ritualistic references.
