If you’re an Australian female with a soft spot for colour and locally made trinkets, chances are you’re wearing one of Emily Green’s necklaces right now. Her collectable designs have captured the current zeitgeist, creating new wardrobe staples with easy-to-wear handmade polymer clay beads for the quirky individual.

Having enjoyed stellar success in local fashion circles, Melbourne based artist and jewellery designer Emily Green is now at work designing a different kind of pendant, setting her sights on lighting design. Green’s playful approach is a feature of her recent collaboration with industrial designer Dale Hardiman – set to become as ubiquitous in designer interiors as her popular jewellery.

Hardiman’s contemporary product design work through Lab De Stu and Dowel Jones has also graced many designer wish lists of late, with the Mr. Dowel Jones flat pack light in particular garnering design industry accolades and media attention for the ingenuity of its flat-pack Australian made components.

The result of the two dynamic local designers’ meeting of minds is the UP UP project for Catapult Design, revealing the Marmo lighting range as the first collaboration of the series.

Designed as a single pendant light globe, Marmo makes an elegant statement, featuring Green’s signature polymer clay beads stacked along the cord in a range of marble patterns. The globe is capped in a material complementary to Marmo’s muted pastel pink, blue or black colour ways, with copper, aluminum and ceramic hood options available.

Each Marmo light is manufactured in Melbourne, with the handmade clay beads ensuring that the lights retain a tactile, artisanal quality.

The Marmo range by Emily Green and Dale Hardiman is now available from Catapult Design.
