Henzel Studio, one of leading rug brands in the world, has recently launched an exclusive collection of art rugs created in close collaboration with twelve artists, including some of the most prominent and influential names in the contemporary art world.
The collection is part of the Henzel Studio Collaborations, Volume #1 – a continuous initiative that invites contemporary artists across various disciplines and genres to seamlessly translate their work through an alternate media and the extraordinary artisan practices that are involved in the making of Henzel’s rugs. The purpose of this project is to provide a new and extraordinary channel for art to be made available through an alternate medium.
All pieces are created by hand in Nepal, using centuries old weaving techniques that make each rug truly unique. The current collection includes pieces by: Assume Vivid Astro Focus, Scott Campbell, Robert Knoke, Leo Gabin, Helmut Lang, Linder, Marilyn Minter, Anselm Reyle, Jack Pierson, Richard Prince, Juergen Teller and Mickalene Thomas.
Henzel Studio Collaborations, Volume #1, will be officially launched at the Barneys New York’s iconic Madison Avenue location during the Frieze New York art fair from 9 to 11 May 2014. An edited display of Henzel Studio Collaborations will be on view at the Temporary Museum for New Design in Milan during the Salone Internationale del Mobile.
