The Chair-ity Project Auction invites 14 key creatives from Australia and New Zealand to reinterpret the iconic ‘CH 33’ chair for Carl Hansen & Søn by Hans J. Wegner.
The classic chair, with its original Scandinavian silhouette and blonde wood frame, has been reimagined in an array of colours and textures, expressing the unique talents of the individual designer. Each has elected a different charity to receive the donated proceeds of their chair’s winning auction bid.
Among the influential designers behind the revamped chairs are prolific Sydney-based industrial designer Adam Goodrum, quirky Melbourne studio Coco Flip, creative behemoth Dinosaur Designs, enduring Australian artist Ken Done, award-winning interior designers Hecker Guthrie and eclectic fashion luminaries, Romance Was Born.
The 14 completed chairs are currently on show in the Cult Sydney showroom. With 14 Australian and New Zealand designers converging to raise awareness for 14 deserving charities, the widespread appeal of the Chairity Project Auction has drawn bids from design enthusiasts and philanthropists worldwide.
