The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia’s latest exhibition is a solo affair – a series of video installations from the Japanese artist, Tabaimo. Curated by Rachel Kent, the exhibition comprises six video installations created between 2000 and the present, along with a series of drawings illustrating Tabaimo’s creative process.

The artist is renowned for her delicate imagery, which in this exhibition will explore “everyday people, cityscapes, objects and events that unfold with often surprising outcomes”.

Drawn by hand and then animated via computer, Tabaimo’s work recalls Edo-period Japanese woodblock prints, with their rich colour combinations and shading.

“She has created two extraordinary new installations, which respond to the Museum’s architecture, peeling back the walls to reveal the ocean outside,” says Kent.
