RJ Living expands its design language through material, colour and form

Share

This October, RJ Living is expanding its collection through a considered exploration of materiality, introducing new fabrics, finishes, colours and forms across some of its most-loved designs.

Rather than reinventing its design language, the Australian furniture brand continues to evolve it through a richer material palette and new expressions of familiar forms. The result is a collection that offers more ways to layer colour, texture and finish throughout the home, while remaining distinctly RJ Living.

Materiality is central to the expansion, spanning upholstery, timber, stone and concrete.

New upholstery includes Berg in Fleck Rust, a warm earthy red with a flecked texture that brings depth and tonal variation. Designed to pair naturally with Oak, Deep Oak and warm stone finishes, the fabric adds colour while retaining a sense of warmth and versatility.

In stone, Check in Espresso Marble welcomes a new finish to an already loved design, bringing a deep marble colourway with grounded, moody character. Deep Oak similarly brings greater depth to familiar forms, including the Henri dining chair, where the darker timber finish gives the silhouette a richer presence.

The expansion also extends outdoors, with new pieces and finishes refreshing RJ Living’s outdoor offering ahead of summer. Among them is Terrazza in Pimento, a new concrete shape and colourway that brings saturated warmth to the collection while retaining the architectural quality of the material.

“One of the things I’m most excited about is seeing our most-loved collections evolve,” says Samuel Clarke, Head of Product at RJ Living. “New formats, expressive finishes, fresh upholstery and richer materials give customers more ways to create cohesive, layered interiors with pieces designed to last.”

Alongside these material updates, a selection of new pieces broadens the collection across living, dining, bedroom and entertaining spaces. The outdoor range also receives a refresh ahead of summer, extending the brand’s approach to colour, proportion and materiality beyond the home.

For RJ Living, the release reflects an ongoing approach to design: evolve what works, explore new materials and create pieces that remain relevant beyond a single season.

How the offering has developed

Founded by David Janovic, RJ Living has spent more than a decade developing furniture around the principles of thoughtful design, quality and everyday living. Designed in Australia, each piece is created to settle naturally into a space and become part of the way it is lived in.

This latest expansion continues that philosophy. New materials, finishes and forms bring fresh possibilities to the collection, while the familiar remains at its core.

New materials and finishes

Stone: Check

The Check collection is defined by its bold slab tops and pedestal bases, an architectural form now expressed in full marble across three pieces. Each is available in Desert Rose and Espresso Marble.

Desert Rose offers a warm, tonal option, while Espresso brings a deep colourway with grounded, moody character. Natural veining means every piece is unique in pattern and tone.

The Check console table carries the collection’s signature proportions into entryways, living and dining rooms. At 40 centimetres deep, it brings a strong sculptural presence to narrower walls. The Check coffee table offers a generous 100 centimetres square format, while the Check side table brings the same solidity to a compact 40-centimetre footprint, sitting beside a sofa or armchair or standing alone as an accent piece. Designed to work together, the pieces can be paired in a single marble or mixed across both finishes.

Upholstery: Fleck

Fleck is a new fabric collection that brings greater texture, depth and colour to RJ Living’s upholstery. Its multi-tonal woven finish gives dimension to upholstered forms, offered in four colourways: Rust, Smoke, Olive and Ginger.

The palette moves from warm statement tones through to versatile neutrals, each chosen to connect with the brand’s wider furniture and textile palette.

On the Stretch modular sofa, Fleck accentuates the proportions and sculptural silhouette, while the modular configuration adapts to rooms of different sizes and layouts. Berg in Fleck Rust, a warm earthy red, pairs naturally with Oak, Deep Oak and warm stone finishes, adding colour while retaining a sense of warmth and versatility. The collection builds on RJ Living’s ongoing approach to Australian furniture design, seen across collaborations such as its furniture collection with Milly McEwan.

Timber: Embellish in Oak

Embellish introduces pattern to timber. A signature repeating façade gives the Embellish entertainment unit and Embellish sideboard a texture-led presence, while handle-free frontage keeps the pattern clean and uninterrupted. Crafted in solid oak and oak veneer and finished in Lucero Oil, the light oak tone highlights the timber grain and softens the detailing.

The entertainment unit takes a low, elongated profile that creates a strong horizontal line. The sideboard’s taller proportions showcase the pattern across a broader surface. Both are available in 149 centimetres, 195 centimetres and 248 centimetres widths, with generous concealed storage that balances distinctive design with everyday function.

Timber: New Deep Oak

Deep Oak brings greater depth to familiar forms, including the Henri dining chair, where the darker timber finish gives the silhouette a richer presence.

Outdoor: Terraza and Drum

The expansion extends outdoors ahead of summer, with two collections that bring an indoor level of materiality and design detail to exterior settings.

Terraza is defined by its tile-look finish, a graphic, architectural surface rendered in glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC). The material delivers the substantial look of concrete in a lighter, reinforced composite. The collection arrives in Oyster, a versatile neutral, and Pimento, a saturated red that brings warmth while retaining the architectural quality of the material.

The Terraza outdoor dining table sits on a sculptural twin pedestal base with softened curves, available in 200 centimetres and 245 centimetres. The matching outdoor bench, with softly rounded edges and curved legs, is sized to coordinate with both tables.

The Terraza round dining table offers a softer circular alternative on a cylindrical pedestal, while the Terraza outdoor round stool works as casual seating, a side table or a decorative accent. Pieces can be styled tonally in a single colourway or combined for contrast.

Drum takes a bold, sculptural approach to outdoor dining through its cylindrical drum-style legs. Crafted in solid eucalyptus timber with a wirebrush finish, the Drum outdoor dining table is available in 200 centimetres and 240 centimetres, with a matching bench in 180 centimetres and 220 centimetres to suit either size.
