Hassell promotes eight new principals, DKO elevates 18 of their finest, Carr puts up a pair of promotions, and more in this month’s round up of industry appointments.

Design powerhouse DKO has promoted 18 members of their multidisciplinary team across Australia. Six of them have stepped up to the role of senior associate.

David Felicio joined the Sydney studio in 2020 and quickly gained the respect of both clients and peers. His promotion to senior associate reflects his outstanding contributions to the studio and his dedication to successful project outcomes.

Emma Greenstein has positively impacted the interiors team since 2020 with successful project designs and a cohesive vision from concept to completion, earning her the boost to senior associate status.

Rounding out the new senior appointments are: Xiaoran Ding (NSW), Brad Preston (WA), Michael Robertson (WA) and Zoe Gillard (WA).

A further 12 staff have been bumped up to associate level. 

DKO said the promotions reflect its dedication to team elevation, as well as its ongoing efforts to achieve outstanding architectural outcomes.

Hassell appointments strengthen commitment to excellence and diversity

Hassell has announced eight new appointments in its studios across Australia and China, underscoring the firm’s commitment to design excellence, interdisciplinary skills and diverse talent. 

The new principals are Shanghai-based Minmin Long and Zoey Chen; Tanya Golitschenko and Liam Short from Brisbane; Melbourne-based Susie Quinton and Tam Dao; Ben Rees in Perth and Annabel Koeck in Sydney.

Hassell managing director Liz Westgarth said: “The scale of internal promotions this year reflects the broad opportunities available within Hassell and the increasing need for diverse skill sets to achieve excellence.”

Turner celebrates creative thinking, initiative and passion

At Turner, James Lauman has been appointed associate director, while Milena Grbovic is now a senior associate (BIM Lead). Turner said the promotions signalled a strategic strengthening of the practice’s senior team.

Other key promotions include Juan Luis Cano Cano, Jacqui Liang, Khoa Nguyen, Aishwarya Sharma, Celina Yeji Cha, Cristián Andrés Maluje Behrmann, Jakub Svaton, Tomas Moore, Georgia Crawley, Angela Kwong, Angela Yoo, Ivan Yim, Jasmine Jahani, Mai Alarilla, Milica Kovac and Yong Ning Gan.

Carr augments August with three promotions
Catherine Keys, Kenneth Wong and Ashleigh Ward

Catherine Keys, Kenneth Wong and Ashleigh Ward have had their roles elevated over at Carr.  Keys has been promoted to associate director to reflect her significant contribution to Carr’s commercial interiors portfolio. 

Meanwhile, Wong assumes a new title as an associate. Wong is an experienced APEC architect with over ten years of practice working on projects across Melbourne, New York, Shanghai and Singapore. 

Ward has also assumed the new title of associate. Ward thrives in the conceptualisation phase of a project, where she crafts a tone and personality unique to each project.

Fieldwork’s new direction
Kelley Mackay

Fieldwork is excited to announce the appointment of Kelley Mackay as a director, joining Quino Holland, Hannah Jonasson and Ben Keck, in steering the strategy and success of the practice. Mackay has always believed in the transformative power of design in shaping interactions and the spaces we inhabit. 

“Having admired and respected Fieldwork from afar, and having now commenced my role as director, I’m so impressed with the high calibre of thinking, skill and dedication at every level,” Mackay said.

Jarad Grice and Ben Chan

Sam Crawford Architects has promoted Ben Chan and Jarad Grice to senior associates. Chan has extensive experience in award-winning public and residential projects, while Grice has played an active role in the implementation of quality standards to ensure best-practice architectural documentation at the practice.

Allen Huang, Rhys Nicholas and Charly Watson, who all bring a wealth of experience, passion and joy to their projects, have been promoted to associate level. 

The practice has also welcomed three new staff: graduates Stephanie Kennedy and Bruce Xu and architectural assistant Ted Dwyer.

Cera Stribley announces four key promotions

Cera Stribley is proud to announce a round of internal promotions, elevating four talented team members into leadership positions.

Sarah Wardlaw has been elevated to director. Sarah has established herself as a gracious leader in the firm, guiding the delivery of numerous high-end boutique private residential projects.

Additionally, Matt Hainsworth assumes a leadership role as associate director. Matt has emerged as a leader specializing in bespoke residential design.

Rising to the role of senior associate are two more talented members, Darcy Kay and Hannah Wexler.

Buchan appoints Jake Martin and Jeames Hanley to drive sport and technology

Acclaimed global architecture and design studio, Buchan, has appointed Jake Martin and Jeames Hanley to its global team to support its sports sector and technical capability. Martin joins as a senior associate, whilst Hanley takes up the role of Digital Technology Lead.

Buchan Chief Strategy Officer, Laraine Sperling, says the appointments come at a pivotal time for the practice. “As members of the Brisbane Design Alliance and through our collaboration with HKS, Buchan is building its sports sector capability with a focus on sports-integrated precinct design. These appointments will ensure the practice continues to leverage digital technology in a fast-evolving landscape.
