A new lease of life has been given to the Refectory at Werribee Mansion by Doherty Design Studio, stripped of a 1980s refurbishment in favour of gentle grey and white highlights which accentuate the original plasterwork and classic architectural elements.
"If you are swinging around on a trapeze, the world stays still and you are continually moving around in relation to it, so your relationship to the room continually changes," said Dunn & Hillam director Lee Hillam. The studio recently renovated the Umbilico Circus and Movement School in Rosebery, creating a bright design that emphasises dimension and point of view.
