The Living Future Institute of Australia, along with Frasers Property Australia, have launched a competition to design a truly sustainable mixed-use retail centre in Melbourne’s Burwood East.
The striking King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture appears as a futuristic homage to surrounding geology, creating a modern monument to culture in the Saudi Arabian desert.
In the four-metre wide space that was once the opening of a bleak alleyway, now stands a quaint and inviting cabin-like structure. A peaked roof reaches up, and while it is nowhere as high as the buildings that press against either side of it, this little venue is far from shadowed by its surrounds.
