IDEA’s Object award has now been segmented into two categories – Professional and Rising.

The Object – Furniture and Lighting (Professional) category will now focus solely on the expertise of Australia’s top object makers, judging established professionals only against their peers. The Professional category is to be judged by IDEA’s esteemed jury.

Object – Furniture and Lighting (Rising) is a new category for IDEA, launching this year, and will showcase the best up-and-coming designers within the furniture and lighting scene. Students or those who have recently graduated (less than three years since graduating) are encouraged to enter into this category, which will be judged by Inside magazine co-editors Jan Henderson and Gillian Serisier.

The division of the Object, Furniture and Lighting category allows professional designers to take their work to another level alongside the celebration and recognition of the talented work of rising industry members. The segmention allows IDEA to commend further projects, ensuring the award remains the pinnacle of recognition for Australian professional and rising designers alike.
