Welcome to the second issue of inside for 2016. As we embrace the autumnal season it’s the ideal time to make the most of the clement weather and enjoy the artistic offerings that abound in our own respective backyards.
The award, presented to an individual who has “made a profound and long-term contribution to the contemporary practice of design,” has been given to Israeli-born architect, Moshe Safdie.
Branch Studio's name refers to its orchard setting and also to an energetic, open-ended growth of design services, with founders Brad Wray and Nicholas Russo keen for the practice to develop offshoot services in graphic and furniture design. Sandra Tan takes a look at some of the practice's best work for AR magazine.
"We want to use the objects to create a mystique, a story, as well as to show how Johnston’s antiques can exist in a contemporary way,” says Paul Hecker, of Hecker Guthrie's collaboration with the Johnston Collection for their latest exhibition-house tour.
