Walsh Street Archive to launch at Open House Melbourne

Walsh Street Archive to launch at Open House Melbourne

Share

The Walsh Street Archive has been researched, catalogued and digitised over the last seven years by a team of volunteers from the Robin Boyd Foundation.

At this year’s Open House Melbourne program, visitors to the landmark Boyd property can view a curated exhibition of the collection’s highlights to celebrate and coincide with the launch of the archive online through Victorian Collections. The exhibition is free but bookings are required.

The Walsh Street Archive contains over 4000 items: the readily visible library, furniture and artwork collection alongside hidden treasures including manuscripts, correspondence, slides, films, architectural drawings and newspaper clippings.

The archive offers a great insight into Boyd’s seminal contribution as an architect, author, critic and public educator, and a view into life at Walsh Street during the 1950s and 60s.

The Walsh Street Archive digitisation project was supported by the Angela Gehrig Bequest 2017.
