The collaboration has captured the interior designer’s refined, robust style in a new collection manufactured in Australia.

David Hicks and Sussex Taps have come together on a luxury collection that achieves both presence and subtlety. FELIX includes a cohesive selection of minimalist tapware, mixers, shower fittings and accessories that allow materiality and silhouette to take precedence.

Two new finishes

FELIX is distinguished by two exclusive finish combinations unique to the collection: Brushed Oyster Nickel with polished chrome detailing, and Brushed Smoke Gun Metal with gloss black detailing.

The Brushed Smoke Gun Metal heroes the collection’s sculptural forms, while the Brushed Oyster Nickel carries a warmth that can pair with both silver or gold in a wider interior palette.

The combinations of the two finishes with either polished chrome or gloss black accents create a precise play between satin and shine. Chrome or gloss subtly peeks through at the handles or base plates, adding flashes of lightness and moments of design delight.

A versatile collection

As an enthusiast of classical and modernist architecture, Hicks revels in refined symmetry. His 25 years in practice have seen him build a glamorous body of work across penthouses, luxury apartment buildings, single residences, hospitality and retail spaces.

FELIX carries Hicks’ signature design aesthetics into a collection that seeks to integrate confidently into both contemporary and traditional residential, multi-residential and hotel settings.

“I wanted to make something beautiful and luxurious but, more than that, something that felt measured, justified and truly versatile,” Hicks says.

Sussex Taps shares a similar appreciation for tradition and modernity. The business was established in 1997 in Melbourne by Nicolaas Johannes van Putten, a Dutch watchmaker who translated his precision skills into high-end tapware. His daughter Vanessa Katsanevakis and her husband are now managing directors of the business, which manufactures in Australia using state-of-the-art facilities and boasts the title of the country’s first tap manufacturer to be certified as carbon neutral.
