A dark interior is “carefully contrasted and complemented” by a selection of furniture pieces from Krost in this new Melbourne office workspace.

Designed and built by Concept Commercial Interiors for strategic advertising agency 10 Feet Tall, a commanding black palette with splashes of tan leather is brilliantly balanced into a unique and contemporary working environment.

“10 Feet Tall was seeking a place to be creative and removed from the boundaries of a traditional office” says Concept Commercial Interiors managing director Richard Mensink.

“A refined colour palette combined with a luxurious material selection resulted in a sleek, sophisticated space with multi-functional areas for the teams varying working styles.”

Setting the tone, a luxurious dark-themed bar welcomes staff and clients alike with the promise of a cup of coffee or the space to unwind while also facilitating connection and community.

Krost’s Cosmopolitan tables in a Polytec WoodMatt finish, which Concept has paired with black-stained Indi chairs and Rize side tables, contrast against the abundant indoor greenery, further elevating the dark and moody colour palette.

With its contoured birchwood and veneer laminate seat and back and tapered bentwood legs, the Indi complements the brushed steel of the Cosmopolitan and the tan leather banquettes.

The striking black finishes stand out against the warm leather tones and textured cement flooring featured in the 10 Feet Tall bar.

Functionality and aesthetics define the advertising agency’s new workspace through the mix of furniture and finishes selection. In the executive office, the modern, cool aesthetic envisioned by 10 Feet Tall is exemplified in the sleek black walls and tall glass windows that naturally light up the articulated design with views of the city.

Krost’s Keywork desk module and black Slotted Modesty Panel bring a luxe appeal and elegance to the space without detracting from the dark textural feel.

A cohesive theme is maintained from the executive office to staff space with Keywork workstations with black oblique steel legs matched with a black Laminex Absolutematte worktop cementing the contemporary style.

These are paired with Krost’s Hana task chairs and Globe Mobile Caddies to provide all employees with comfortable ergonomic seating and personal storage that fuse function and aesthetic effortlessly.

“10 Feet Tall’s new office has been transformed into a contemporary space through the creative use of dark textural tones and a deep understanding of the sense of space and client’s vision,” says the Krost team.

“The main challenge was finding the right material to meet the client’s aesthetic requirements while also being extremely functional in a fast-paced workspace.”

The pieces by Krost Business Furniture and design and build by Concept Commercial Interiors create a unique and unexpected experience as you move through the office, with the changes in volume and architectural details creating an appreciation for the abundance of space that successfully balances functionality and design artistry.
