With GENE, Japanese manufacturer Axona AICHI introduces a chair responsive to evolving human needs.
The mastermind behind the Tipo range and X50 chair, Axona AICHI understands that seating must deliver exceptional ergonomics, durability, long-term value and save space – all while complementing a wide range of architectural environments.
Axona AICHI has worked closely with designer Taku Kumazawa on its latest innovation – the GENE chair. Engineered precisely for these demands, the GENE chair is made in Japan to exacting global standards and is now available in Australia through KE-ZU.

The core of GENE’s design is comfort.
A patented flexible seat core adapts intuitively to movement, supporting posture and wellbeing through presentations, meetings, training sessions and focused work. The absence of a front crossbar also allows users to sit naturally with their feet positioned comfortably beneath the seat, enhancing relaxation during longer engagements.

There are two versions – Standard and Luxe – and both include a waterfall front edge to reduce pressure on the legs and support circulation.
GENE’s versatility is one of its defining strengths.
The chair comes in multiple back options – wood veneer, plastic or upholstered – allowing interior designers to tailor the chair to suit aesthetic, acoustic and performance needs.

When upholstered, optional Aqua Clean fabric enables fast, chemical-free cleaning. Stains can be removed with water alone, reducing maintenance labour while preserving appearance throughout the life cycle. This makes GENE ideal for spaces with frequent turnover or high traffic.
GENE also adapts effortlessly to diverse functional requirements. A detachable writing tablet transforms the chair into a training or learning unit, while a dedicated trolley ensures tablets can be stored efficiently.

An optional cupholder further supports hospitality and conference environments. This is because GENE is lightweight yet robust, enabling fast room turnaround and effortless adaptation to different room sizes and layouts.
Up to 40 chairs stack on a single trolley, and 200 chairs occupy an area less than one by three metres. This compact footprint helps organisations maximise valuable floor area and streamline operations in multipurpose rooms, lecture theatres, seminar spaces and event venues.

Backed by a 10-year structural warranty, GENE unites performance, sustainability and refined aesthetics.
With GECA certification, AFRDI Level 6 compliance and fully recyclable materials, the chair reflects Axona AICHI’s belief that sustainability extends beyond materials. It is about creating products that last, can be repaired and remain useful across evolving spaces and needs.

GENE demonstrates how conference and learning environments can achieve serene proportions, enduring comfort and stackable elegance.
