ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects (CHC) has appointed three new partners and announced a swag of senior appointments in July.

Stephanie Wan, an inclusive design specialist, has become the third partner in CHC’s education team. 

Meanwhile, in retail/mixed-use, community architect and an advocate for co-design and adaptive reuse Ngaio Chalmers joins Dean Landy as a partner. Also promoted to retail/mixed-use partner is Teddy Chung, a leader in vertical mixed-use design, socially sustainable activity and town centres.

Two new senior associates, Kai Cheong and Gaston Nogues, have been appointed to the studio’s multi-residential and mixed-use teams, respectively.

Yorta Yorta man James Gilliland, the architect behind Aboriginal Housing Victoria’s new social housing apartment project in Dandenong, has been appointed associate – First Nations lead. This new role is supported by non-Indigenous designing with country leads established across the practice over the past seven years, building capacity and focus in this space.

CHC’s other new associates include Jennifer Addison (interiors), Brogan Bradfield (urban design and mixed-use), Richard Lee and Oswaldo Marcelo (both mixed-use).

Global design practice Buchan has announced five new principals and eight senior elevations across its Australian and New Zealand studios.

On our shores, that includes four principals: Lynn Van Dievoort (Brisbane), Alessandro Paladin (Perth), Malou Ellis (Sydney) and Aleksander Borek (Melbourne).

Alex Dickson and Carol Leung have been elevated to senior associates in Melbourne and Sydney respectively. Newly appointed associates are My Thuat Ho (Sydney), Myron Monteiro and Anu Chembrolu (Brisbane), and Hayden Federico and Will Perkin (Melbourne).

Hot Black

Earlier this month, interdisciplinary design practice Hot Black announced that Gabby Hamilton and Karina Simpson have been promoted to associates, “championing growth” for both its Melbourne and Sydney studios.

“We look forward to their leadership in strengthening the collaboration and design ethos between our Melbourne and Sydney teams,” Hot Black said on social media.

Studio Gram

Meanwhile, in Adelaide, boutique architecture and interior design practice Studio Gram has promoted Tess Sporn to associate.

“Tess has been an invaluable member of our team, consistently showcasing outstanding talent, leadership, dedication and creativity,” the studio said on social media. 

“Her innovative approach and passion for design have greatly contributed to our studio’s success and growth.”

Further north, Plus Architecture appointed architect Michael McShanag as a director to co-lead the Brisbane and Gold Coast studios alongside Danny Juric.

Specialising in project management and delivery, McShanag has led multi-million dollar design projects in Australia and internationally spanning the government, residential, commercial and education sectors.

Following the announcement of its new directors last month, Melbourne-based architecture and interior design studio Carr has revealed more internal promotions.

Lucy Cuthbertson has become practice manager, while Kenneth Wong and Ashleigh Ward are now associates. 

CEO Nick Carr says the elevation of Cuthbertson, Wong and Ward marks an “exciting expansion” of Carr’s leadership team.

“Each of their expertise across architecture and interior design truly echoes Carr’s philosophy for innovative, enduring and timeless design,” he says.

Global architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and urban design studio GroupGSA has appointed a new studio lead amid a suite of promotions.

Emily Gilfillan, a former principal at Billard Leece Partnership, has made the move over to GroupGSA to lead its Melbourne studio. Gilfillan plans to leverage her extensive expertise in residential, education, health, seniors, aged care and retirement living sectors.

Meanwhile, in the Sydney studio, Shane O’Donnell has been promoted to associate director and will lead high-density tower projects. Architects Manal Salama, Michelle Ramjan, Zoe Goodbrand and interior designer Erik Enstrom have all been promoted to associates. 

In Brisbane, Monica Jadhav has been promoted to associate, which follows the appointment of James du Plessis as principal studio lead in Brisbane in May.

Gray Puksand

In Sydney, Páraic Walsh was recently promoted to digital and design technology manager at Gray Puksand.

Walsh has been part of Gray Puksand’s digital team for the past four years and comes with experience in project delivery and BIM management in both Australia and Europe. He has transitioned to a leadership role guiding the business’s digital and strategic direction.

PTID

Melbourne-based commercial interior designers PTID recently announced Sophie Heffernan would be ascending to associate, following years of creating “beautiful and functional spaces”.

PTID’s Aleks Swilo will step up to Heffernan’s former position as a senior interior designer.
