The applications were received and reviewed by the two co-founders of Moooi, Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, at the Moooi headquarters in Breda, The Netherlands. This is the fourth consecutive year that Wanders (art director and designer) and Vissers (CEO), have collaborated with Space Furniture to run this residency programme. Both companies said they were overwhelmed by the extremely high quality and number of applications received for the program..

The successful applicant will be announced on 13 February this year and the eight-week residency will commence in May. The ultimate aim for the lucky designer is to see his or her winning design produced as part of Moooi’s collection.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Australian designer to work with and receive guidance from  Wanders and  Vissers. Moooi is recognised worldwide as a world leader in furniture and object design and has also promoted such talented designers as Maarten Baas, Jaime Hayon and Studio Job.

Commenting on the program, Space Furniture General Manager Christina Caredes said, “We believe that this residency offers a unique and, hopefully, career-changing opportunity for an Australian designer and is set to become one of the most coveted prizes in the Australian design industry.”

The following candidates will go through to the final stage of the residency application process:

Andrew Southwood-Jones & Alexander Kashin
Kristian Aus
Ross Gardan
Tom Fereday
