45 Chippen Street, Chippendale
Leaving the cool streets of Surrey Hills for the über cool streets of Chippendale, Halliday+Baillie have trumped the emergence of one of the most interesting cultural zones of Sydney. Along with White Rabbit Gallery and Cult Design, H+B are in the heart of the City of Sydney initiative ‘Chippendale Creative Precinct’ (CCP), where the community joins forces to support each other’s business, share experiences and of course trade.
As the CCP website proclaims, “Sydney is recognised as the creative capital and cultural heart of Australia, and we envision Chippendale to be one of the driving forces behind this pulse. With strong support from the City of Sydney, our vision to make Chippendale the next arts mecca of Sydney is becoming a reality.”
And while the area is certainly taking off, so too is H+B with a fabulous new showroom space. Formerly the home of McLemoi art gallery, the raw industrial space has been finished with polished cement floors and the bold black and white of H+B’s branding extended to art and furnishings. Moreover, there is now ample room to display the fabled H+B products with meeting tables and what looks set to be a great place for long lunches in an all black and white dining room.
