The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) has recently announced the first round of speakers for their Building a Better Future themed National Conference, to be held in October.

Maureen Frank, founder and managing director of Emberin and globally recognised expert adviser on gender diversity and women’s advancement, will be delivering key sessions on leading cultural change in the workplace to create diversity and inclusion. Frank’s key sessions will be accompanied by a powerhouse of women speaking to pave the way for future change in construction.

Emmy award-winning foreign correspondent, Sara James, will speak in favour of increasing participation of women in the construction industry. Sara is known for her reports of the downing of flight MH17 and the Australasia tour by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2014.

Other speakers at the event will include:

Susanne Moore, the founder and chair of The Centre for Gender Economics and Innovation, an experienced speaker and thought leader who started the think tank in 2011 surrounding gender issues in society to help “change the world one woman at a time”.

Michele Farley, the founder and director of Safety Journey, who works with teams and leaders to both support and challenge them to reach their own organisational safety culture goals.

Karen Saunders who has recently been published as part of the G20 Global Café, previously worked for one Australia’s contract miners before co-founding her own technology company.

The NAWIC National Conference will be held 8 – 9 October, at the Pullman Hotel in Albert Park, Melbourne.
