Milan Furniture Fair: A glimpse into the Cappellini Salone

Share

The Cappellini Salone at the 2014 Milan Design Week presents striking products designed by some of the most famous names from the furniture industry. The products have been designed, or refined, to meet the needs of an increasingly cosmopolitan market. Here’s a look at some of the pieces currently on display:

Steel Pipe by Shiro Kuramata
Cappellini’s trademark Steel Pipe is a cart where form and function are immediate but distinguished by the refined aesthetic of Shiro Kuramata. The design has a striking reference to the curves of the chair ‘sofa with arms’. The Steel Pipe cart’s iron structure epoxy powder is coated in matte black, with a white laminate top and the cover and chrome wheels in gray plastic.

Jasper Morrison’s Cap Chair 2 has been launched as part of a natural evolution of the original Cap Chair, which was introduced at the Salone del Mobile in 2013. The Cap Chair 2 is a leather chair with sides and armrests upholstered in leather. Composed around directional tables lower than the standard height, the chair provides an elegant lounge look to any setting.
