The University of Melbourne’s new Melbourne School of Design (MSD) building invites people to explore its new facilities during their open house, from 2pm to 8pm on Friday 12 December.
MSD is designed as a dedicated hub for the education of built environment design. The open house event will encourage interaction between students, alumni, university staff and industry professionals, in an environment built to inspire students within.
The MSD building brings a range of design disciplines together under the one roof, with architecture, urbanism, construction and landscape architecture departments co-located within the space. The end of year student exhibition MSDx will feature in the building’s Dulux Gallery, while the level 1 Atrium houses the creative Hansen Yuncken Suspended Studios.
The building will host a number of exhibitions on the day, along with live music and performances by the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Food trucks and a cash bar will also add to the lively atmosphere, celebrating the launch of the new design education complex.
Teaching begins in the new Melbourne School of Design building at the beginning of the 2015 academic year.
