Halliday + Baillie finds seamless synergy with premium German brands

Leading manufacturer of architectural hardware, Halliday + Baillie has long-established winning partnerships with two premium German brands to deliver a range that is unsurpassed in design and quality.

A harmony of design excellence

Operating for more than 30 years, Halliday + Baillie designs, manufactures and exports high-end hardware and fittings in both Australia and New Zealand. The brand celebrates and supports local industry by maintaining manufacturing facilities south of the equator, as well as showrooms in both Sydney and Melbourne.

“We produce high-end, beautiful artisan hardware on this side of the hemisphere,” Halliday + Baillie director Tanya Rive says. “No matter how much time passes or how much we grow, we never want to stray from that. We work with Australian and New Zealand artisans and we always will.”

However, this innovative company has also kept a close eye on the global design stage over the years. From the outset, Halliday + Baillie carefully curated two outstanding partnerships with European brands of equal calibre: FSB and Simonswerk.

FSB lever handles meet exacting standards

Boasting a rich history dating back to 1881, FSB has consistently set the standard for precision engineering and innovative design in architectural door hardware. Its designs are adored by architects and designers globally, with a reputation that has led to its inclusion in many high-profile projects.

FSB’s high-end lever handle products support Halliday + Baillie-branded hardware to deliver a seamless offering. This year marks 30 years of collaboration between the two firms.

Simonswerk’s innovation advances the range

Established in Germany in 1889, the Simonswerk Group creates market-leading hinges and hinge systems that push the boundaries of technical expertise.

Halliday + Baillie added the Simonswerk TECTUS concealed hinges to their product range early on. Considered the pinnacle of hinge design, these hinges are designed to be completely recessed within the door and frame. The product allows a closed door to sit completely flush with no visible hinges.

Perfect for minimalist aesthetics, the hinges are renowned for their durability, smooth operation and ability to support heavy doors. In fact, the mechanics can be adjusted in three dimensions, ensuring precise alignment and the ability to adjust over time to prevent sagging.

United by a commitment to excellence

These clever collaborations have allowed Halliday + Baillie to unite three of the world’s finest door hardware brands to create a range of unsurpassed quality. Each brand upholds unwavering principles in materials, engineering, craftsmanship and form.

All products are made from high-grade aluminium, stainless steel and bronze: materials that have proven their worth in everyday architectural use with inherent durability and resilience.

The products naturally complement each other in style and finish. Specifiers can easily access a seamless hardware solution across an entire project.

To enhance the uniform look of the three brands, Rive sourced powder-coat finishes to perfectly match Halliday + Baillie sliding door hardware with FSB lever handles and Simonswerk TECTUS hinges.

Stock finishes include SC satin chrome, EBA electro black ace, EDB electro dark bronze, EMB electro medium bronze, EFW electro flat white and WHT Dulux appliance white (10 percent gloss), with many more available made to order.

Driving social and environmental sustainability

Halliday + Baillie is fastidious in checking the provenance of their raw materials, ensuring they comply with all international regulations. They adopt efficient processes to minimise energy use and emissions. In particular, they have greatly reduced their carbon footprint and freight requirements with a commitment to local manufacturing, especially for oversized products.

Powder coatings are low VOC to comply with Green Building Australia standards, and all packaging contains 70 percent recycled material that is locally sourced.

All three companies share this commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. FSB made the switch to 100 percent renewable electricity, while Simonswerk is on track to be climate-neutral by 2030.
