On 14 November, Designcraft’s Canberra showroom hosted an exclusive event to celebrate the shared legacy, innovation and commitment to sustainability that define the MillerKnoll collective.
The evening, attended by more than 100 guests from the local architecture and design community, showcased an innovative exhibition of double-sided illuminated installations, arranged in striking L-shaped formations. The display transformed the space into a visual and narrative journey, highlighting MillerKnoll’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and people-centric design.
Each installation served as an invitation to engage with the values and stories behind the iconic brands that make up the MillerKnoll portfolio.
Reflecting on the event’s success, MillerKnoll’s regional sales manager for Australia and New Zealand, Josh Coughlan, emphasised the importance of engaging with regional design hubs. “Following successful events in Auckland, Adelaide and Sydney, we were excited to bring this exhibition to Canberra,” Coughlan said. “This was a valuable opportunity for the local design community to experience our commitment to sustainability and design innovation firsthand.”
For Bob Fenderson, owner of Designcraft, the event was an opportunity for meaningful connection. “Designcraft has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Herman Miller, dating back nearly 25 years,” he said. “Bringing the MillerKnoll collective to Canberra allows us to connect with the local design community in a meaningful way. This event highlighted our mutual commitment to enduring design and the ways innovation can shape interior spaces to inspire creativity and excellence.”
The event also showcased MillerKnoll and Designcraft’s collaborative vision in elevating modern living and working spaces, giving guests a closer look at how the collective’s sustainable practices and people-centric ethos inform its approach to contemporary design.
For Australian Design Review, events like these underscore our ethos of championing design and designers across the nation. Australian design has never been better, and it’s exciting to see that the industry is full of vibrant creativity, not only in major cities but also in regional hubs like Canberra.
Collaborations and partnerships, such as the long-standing partnership between MillerKnoll and Designcraft, demonstrate that success and innovation come from working together. ADR remains dedicated to celebrating the best of Australian design, and if this event is anything to go by, Canberra is a place to watch.
