With a focus on atmosphere, materiality and light, Pham Tuan Viet Architects have taken a Scandinavian approach to designing St Kilda's Icon Cafe. Located within the Icon St Kilda apartment building, the cafe serves as a stylish hub for both residents and passers-by.
The central concept behind the design of Southern Highlands House was to create a transparent pavilion that hovered above the landscape. Designed to blend seamlessly, the internal and external spaces are conceived as one. This frames and maximises views of the surrounding landscape while creating a sense of retreat and calmness within the interior.
