The wholesaler of double-glazing skylights and roof windows has launched its first virtual reality (VR)-enabled showroom in Australia.

Situated at 78 Henderson Road, Alexandria in Sydney’s inner-west, VELUX’s new showroom allows visitors to walk through a physical space overlaid with four options of virtual environments. The VR experience has been created to give industry professionals and homeowners a practical way to visualise the impact of skylights, reducing uncertainty and helping users make more confident design decisions.

In addition to the immersive VR experience, the Alexandria site also houses a dedicated training centre for architects, designers, builders and installers. The space provides hands-on education, product training and technical guidance to help ensure skylights are specified and installed with confidence.

Four distinct virtual environments

The four distinct home styles see furniture, fixtures and finishes shift around the user to reflect an interior style. These include ‘modern industrial’, ‘coastal’, ‘Mediterranean’ and ‘farmhouse’. As visitors move through these spaces, they can see how daylight alters form, colour and atmosphere.

VELUX managing director for Australia, New Zealand and Japan, Kristy Ryan says the new showroom experience reflects the company’s long-standing focus on wellbeing in the home.

“For more than 80 years VELUX has turned spaces into favourite places through a focus on daylight and fresh air,” Ryan says. “The showroom brings this philosophy to life as a place to be inspired and understand the role of skylights when planning or renovating their homes.”
