The 2022 iteration of our gala isn’t just a chance to rub shoulders with the best Australian architects and interior designers, it’s also when we’ll be revealing, in person, the winners of last year’s IDEA awards.

In 2021, we had more than 500 entries and more than 300 shortlisted projects. At the IDEA gala, we’ll be announcing the winners of all 15 categories.

We’ll also be announcing the Project of the Year, Emerging Designer of the Year and Designer of the Year – a fierce contest between YSG, Kennedy Nolan, Arent & Pyke, Carter Williamson, Fender Katsalidis, Fiona Lynch and FMD Architects.

This year’s winners were chosen by our incredible panel of industry experts, which included David Flack, Ritz Ghougassian director Jean-Paul Ghougassian, Brahman Perera, Chelsea Hing, Genesin Studio director Ryan Genesin, the IDEA 2020 Gold Medalist Meryl Hare, Bonnie Herring of Breathe and Hassell director Domino Risch.

Speaking of Gold Medallists, we’ll also be honouring the – yet to be announced – Gold Medallist of 2021 – a person who has had an incredible career and given so very much to the Australian design industry.

But even if you’re not shortlisted or didn’t enter the IDEA awards in 2021, there’s still plenty of reasons to join us on 24 February 2022.

The night promises to be one of the summer’s best outdoor events with free flowing cocktails, great food and wine and plenty of live music.

Designed by COX and opened in late 2021, Sydney’s Royal Randwick has ample landscaped gardens and million dollar facilities, so it’s worth a peek alone.
