Behind the scenes of ADR’s 30UNDER30 Sydney dinner

The Sydney-based contingent of Australian Design Review’s (ADR’s) 30UNDER30 gathered for the first time on Wednesday 26 March – here’s how it went.

Kiln was the perfect meeting place for this year’s cohort of interior and product designers. Perched on the 18th floor of Ace Hotel Sydney with views overlooking the popular design destination of Surry Hills, Kiln was designed by Fiona Lynch Office and is a lush celebration of craftsmanship and materiality.

The cohort pulled up comfy chairs beside one another and beside representatives from 30UNDER30’s major sponsor Neolith, as well as gold partners Interface, Tongue & Groove, Krost and Miele.

Australian Design Review’s brand manager Alvin Wu and general manager of commercial Jillian Hood welcomed everyone and Neolith’s New South Wales state manager Sean Burrell added a few words about the program. The cohort also had the chance to meet some of their mentors, including Richards Stanisich co-founder Kirsten Stanisich and Breville head of industrial design Chris Hardy.

The event provided the 30UNDER30 an opportunity to break the ice over an intimate dinner before they all fly to Bali to take part in the high-performance leadership and creativity retreat in May.
