Conceptually robust, the art of Stephen Little oscillates between droll humour and an historically specific commentary on contemporary art. Moreover, it is a deliberately self-conscious repartee within its own genre, at once subject and commentator. His earlier work included a video installation of the artist perpetually vacuuming the room where a Daniel Buren installation had recently been de-installed. The accompanying vacuum cleaner, with dust bag of Buren particles, completed the installation.

The new exhibition at William Wright Artists’ Projects will once again takes on the art world through Little’s wry and bemused lens, and as always it is a delight. The exhibition will feature photographs, videos and installations. It will pursue chains of references and continuing contextualisation through references to the Anglo Australian collaborative art groups: Art and Language, Jake & Dino Chapman and Glen Baxter.
