Australian luxury flooring brand Tongue & Groove is set to redefine the industry with the launch of Co.Lab, an ambitious new initiative that merges expert craftsmanship with avant-garde design.
The collaborative project brings together some of the world’s most visionary creatives to craft extraordinary flooring collections that challenge traditional conventions.
The first collection under the Co.Lab banner is a partnership with renowned Australian designer Greg Natale, scheduled to launch in March 2025. Future collaborations will feature acclaimed names such as Catherine Martin, Yasmine Ghoniem of YSG Studio and Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay from Raw Edges for Established & Sons.
According to Tongue & Groove CEO Richard Karsay, Co.Lab was conceived from a relentless pursuit of innovation within the flooring sector. “It’s about pushing the boundaries of what flooring can be and giving visionary talents a platform to bring their unique artistry to life,” Karsay explains. “By aligning Co.Lab with globally acclaimed creative icons, we aim to not only set new standards of luxury but also to redefine the essence of what flooring can represent.”
With a reputation for precision engineering and exceptional craftsmanship, Tongue & Groove is the first Australian flooring brand to introduce a collection that melds artistry with durability. Co.Lab’s bespoke designs utilise advanced manufacturing techniques and the brand’s signature three-layer solid European Oak boards, ensuring the same superior quality found in its existing range.
Each collection will reflect the distinctive vision of its designer, transforming flooring into a medium for artistic expression. Natale’s debut collection, launching in March, will set the tone for future Co.Lab releases, which promise to push creative boundaries even further.
“What sets Co.Lab apart is our pioneering spirit and unwavering commitment to luxury and artistry,” Karsay adds. “Together with our collaborators, we’re creating timeless pieces that will inspire and captivate for generations to come.”
As Co.Lab continues to evolve, its influence is sure to extend beyond luxury interiors, encouraging a broader shift in the industry towards more design-led, bespoke solutions. By demonstrating how flooring can be both structurally innovative and artistically expressive, Tongue & Groove’s initiative could inspire architects and designers to integrate flooring as a focal point in spatial storytelling, rather than simply a functional surface.
